Engagement & Investment

Community Engagement

We are committed to working closely with communities along the C1 section of the HS2 route, engaging on issues of concern and responding to complaints and enquiries. Our community engagement team work with stakeholders, local groups and residents who are impacted by the delivery of the works to keep them informed and to reduce disruption to the lives of local people as much as we can during the planning and building of the railway.

Some of the key topics we talk to people about are:

  • Noise and vibration

  • Mud and dust

  • Water quality

  • Traffic and impacts on local roads

Delivering social value

Through our engagement work we aim to offer help or solutions that enhances the lives and wellbeing of the residents, the environment and society in general.

Align JV generates value and long-term social impact through a series of planned community investment activities. Throughout the year Align JV colleagues volunteer their time to work with local schools, businesses, charities and environmental and community groups to provide support, deliver projects and share our expertise and resources. We make donations to local schools, charities and community initiatives when we have the resources available to support them..

Community investment

We offer community investment activities so that we can support projects and initiatives in the local community. If you would like to apply for support, please fill in our application form (at the bottom of this page) or contact:

All opportunities are reviewed against our sustainability criteria and projects need to demonstrate how they tackle economic inequality, support equality, diversity and inclusion, tackle climate change and/or promote health and wellbeing. We encourage all applicants to think about the following questions when submitting their application:

  • What is the need/ requirement for the project?

  • How many people will it benefit?

  • How will people benefit?

  • Does the project have longevity?

  • Is there a community legacy?

  • Is it inclusive?

  • Does it support community cohesion?

  • Will it upskill or empower individuals or groups?
